Sometimes it seems that “Street Photography” has become very formulaic. It’s just one photographic equation after another and all very simple at that.
Matching shapes or colors can be pleasing to the eye, but it seems to be just
a matter of time till these coincidences occur. Waiting for a fat lady to pass
in front of a poster of a thin supermodel is way too pathetic, and looking for three of a kind or exact opposites is also a fairly easy tactic to employ. Then there’s the “Dark & Blurry” school, which might be attributed to the work of Michael Ackerman. I’ll admit that I often fall prey to these equations, but I’m not proud of it.

Sometimes these “equations” do yield very good shots, but I usually prefer to just walk around, shoot some film and see what develops…
